Description

There has been a buzz around American singer-songwriter Kyshona for a while now. Until now, her album was hardly available here, but is now finally being released in Europe. Her music is a mix of soul, blues and folk and a bit of gospel and she has a wonderful voice. Her songs are groovy and warm, sound healing and very pleasant. It is therefore not surprising that she has a background as a music therapist. In her work as a therapist, she offers her talents during writing sessions for people who cannot express themselves well, so she helps them with the processing of all kinds of issues. On her own album, she was mainly inspired by the stories of her family. Legacy was recorded in Memphis, Tennessee. Legacy offers beautiful songs that are somewhat in line with Tracy Chapman, Bettye Lavette and Ruthie Foster.

Alt Country: 'It's a masterful album, on which gospel, folk, blues and roots come together.

A truly fabulous record that lives up to the TakeRoot festival motto: for past, present and upcoming American Music. Just sayin'.

Heaven: 'Her blend of folk, roots and gospel is so powerful that the album will do great here. I can recommend everyone to listen to the album as soon as possible. Legacy is of the same calibre as the best of Rhiannon Giddens or Allison Russell.
