Immersive introduction to pysanky, an ancient Ukrainian egg-decorating tradition using a wax-resist process with hot beeswax and successive dyes. Explore the history, symbolism, and themes of rebirth and abundance. Includes demonstration, guided independent practice, and reflections. All materials sustainably sourced, including eggs from instructor’s free-range hens and beeswax from her hives. Led by Jenny Santa Maria, a teaching artist specializing in pysanky-rooted batik eggs. No prior experience necessary. Ages 18+. Schedule: 14:00-14:50 introduction and demonstration; 15:00-16:30 practice; 16:30-17:00 assembly and takeaways. Held in MAGI Art Lab at CoSM.
