DBL Single Launch with Kurilpa Reach (Keep Fallin') & Tommy Sexton (Start Again) w/ Cheap Fakes Amazing stack of bands teaming up for a double single launch and general large times at Mo's DC on Sat 07 December with Kurilpa launch joining Tommy Sexton and the Suggestions and Cheap Fakes. Killer bill! Don't miss out. KURILPA REACH Off the back of their debut album release last year, Kurilpa Reach have been cooking up in the studio and are back with a bang with ‘Keep Falling’. After a national headline tour at the end of 2023, festival slots in New Zealand and supporting bands like South Summit in 2024, KR are finally back with the first release of their new cycle. Keep Falling is a track that showcases the development of KR’s sound, production and songwriting over their 7 years of music making, while still sticking to their rootsy indie rock sensibilities. A track about being hopelessly in love, this song will either have you relishing in the deep love you have right now, or reminiscing on you you’ve felt for someone in the past. Keep an ear out for the trumpet solo that will tug at your heartstrings! Produced by ARIA award winning Cody McWaters (King Stingray, Selfish Sons, The Chats), this track sees the band back working with Cody for the first time since 2020, and the familiarity but growth is clear to see in the pop sensibilities wrangled out of the band by this production. The band have also recently signed with new indie label Yama-nui Records, headed up by Oj Newcomb (John Bulter Trio, Band Of Frequencies). This continues their longstanding relationship with the Yama-nui family, and both parties are intensely excited to be working together for KR releases going forward. To celebrate, Kurilpa Reach are getting back where they belong, on the road to bring this and a bunch of new music to audiences across the country. Highlighted by being a showcasing artist at SXSW Sydney in October, the tour will take the band back through Sydney and Melbourne, culminating in what is sure to be a sell out at Echo and Bounce in Brisbane, an afternoon party that will be for the ages. TOMMY SEXTON & The Suggestions Emerging from Brisbane’s vibrant music scene comes the debut studio release from Tommy Sexton– a soulful disco track titled ‘START AGAIN’. Alongside the dazzling debut comes a bonus B-side, the equally magnificent ‘LA LA LA!’ Described as the sonic lovechild of Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan, Tommy Sexton pulls from genres of “soul, disco funk, and post-apocalyptic yacht-rock”, resulting in a musical creation so wild and wonderful in its nature; smooth as butter and sweet as honey. Drawing inspiration from the likes of neo-soul icon D’angelo, jazz masters like Herbie Hancock, disco legends Earth Wind and Fire, to rock stars like Toto, the range of Tommy Sexton is nothing short of a marvel. CHEAP FAKES Cheap Fakes, the seven-piece horn heavy party band, is heading back to the Sunshine Coast for the first time in ages! Known for their endless energy, they bring a unique blend of funk, ska, and rock that guarantees a night of dancing and good vibes. Joining them on this special occasion are Asher Beau and HaydenGoSeek, setting the stage for an unforgettable night of live music and celebration. Get ready for an energetic groove-filled evening made for dancing! Rare to get a genre lineup this stacked. Get in early.
