Description

The Diary of Discontinuity series presents years of daily notes in the form of classic and digital collages, video works, glitch/gif animations – reactions to current events combined with intimate experiences of a multitude of external sensations. It is conceived as a daily discipline aimed at creating continuity in analyzing different social phenomena infused with personal perception. The striking fragmentary nature refers to daily excerpts, frozen frames that have left the strongest impression in a certain period of time, and are combined with a specific psychogeographic reflection on these moments.

Discontinuity, suspended or negated time should mark an individual's position in the current dimension of time-space and a very complex social and political moment. The feeling of powerlessness and despair intertwines with plans that have not been realized, therefore individual efforts are either nullified or, at best, put on hold.

Architectural elements predominate in the collages as motifs: the deconstruction of real spaces, parts of impersonal and sterile interiors, and structures of city maps, as a comment on the current tendency to transform urban space into a new, hybrid version of the città ideale, distant and, in terms of motivations, quite opposite to the original Renaissance idea. The exhibition is a form of personal struggle and an act of resistance through which the artist and curator of the project express awareness of the necessity of critical thinking and active participation in current social changes.
