Join us on Saturday, December 7 at the Wamsutta Club for a very special concert featuring award-winning Folk/Americana artists Amy Speace and Erin Ash Sullivan. Longtime friends and musical collaborators, Speace and Sullivan once performed together as the critically acclaimed duo Edith O. Now pursuing independent solo careers, these two singer-songwriters are coming together for one night of shared music and storytelling.
Discovered by Judy Collins, Nashville-based Amy Speace has been making critically acclaimed albums since her solo debut in 2006 and heralded as one of the leading voices of the new generation of folk singers. Me and the Ghost of Charlemagne was named International Song of the Year in 2020 by the AMA UK. Her 2013 record, How to Sleep in a Stormy Boat, was named to the Top 10 Folk Albums of the Century by Performing Songwriter Magazine. Her song, “The Weight of the World,” was named as the #4 Best Folk Song of the last decade by NYC’s WFUV and was recorded by Judy Collins. Amy has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and Marketplace and has appeared five times on Mountain Stage, as well as many folk festivals around the world. Her new record, The American Dream, was released October 18, 2024 and has received the best reviews of her career. The New York Times says, “What Amy Speace says – what she sings – she says with a confluence of poetry and honesty, of emotional specificity.”
A native of Harvard, MA, Erin Ash Sullivan’s music reflects a deep sense of place, and her lyrics—sometimes heartfelt, sometimes funny—are always authentic and drawn from her lived experience. Returning to writing and performing after a hiatus to focus on her family and her work as an educator, Erin’s 2021 first solo album We Can Hear Each Other debuted at #10 on the FAI Folk DJ Chart, and her 2024 release, Signposts and Marks, charted at #4. She was a 2023 “Most Wanted” selection from the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival; she has also won the Rose Garden Coffeehouse Performing Songwriter Competition and the Mark Erelli Judge's Choice Award in the New England Songwriting Competition, and she has been a finalist in the Great American Song Contest and the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. Americana UK describes her as “a songwriter of the highest order.”
