George Thompson’s Black Merlin project lives up to its name. With spellbinding sets, Black Merlin is one of Belgrade’s favorite Disco Not Disco guests. Offering raves in parallel dimensions, Black Merlin has been on our radar for more than a decade, with his seminal 2013 night drive anthem “Trans-80” still in our Hall of Fame.

This is a case of a producer slash DJ who really does both of those worlds good. With two albums and numerous EPs, it’s Offen, BoysNoize Records, Berceuse Heroique, Mannequin, Pinkman, and others who were lucky to include some of George’s spells in their catalogue. If techno can speak tongues, this is it! Definitely not your expected angle on the genre, Black Merlin’s leftfield opus is an influential one, with many of the local DJs always turning there for consultation.
