Description

The 13-stringed koto originated from China during the Nara period and was used in gagaku performances. Evolved through Yatsuhashi Kengyō and Miyagi Michio, incorporating Western elements. Workshop teaches playing techniques: thumb, index, and middle fingers pluck strings; left hand presses for pitch changes. Introductory class, no experience required, 15+ only. Taught mainly in Japanese; basic understanding required. All supplies provided.
