Puija is a performance by choreographer, dancer, and performer Suvi Kemppainen. It explores the subconscious world, imaginary friends, and the strength to fantasize amid normative expectations. As the third part of Kemppainen’s trilogy on immaterial ownership and embodied knowledge (following teething 2021 and no, but very close to the bone 2022), it reframes spectacle through psychopoetic corporeality—from external image to internal corporeal experience. The practice delves into the psyche, emphasizing dance's ephemeral nature against commodification. The working group engages with imaginary friend, sickness, and choreographic body rooms. Kemppainen graduated from North Karelia College Outokumpu and studied choreography at University of Arts Berlin HZT. Works presented at Ateneum Art Museum Helsinki, Contemporary Art Space Kutomo Turku, Sophiensaele Berlin, Zodiak Center for New Dance Helsinki. Latest: From a Great Height at Zodiak in October 2025. Duration: approx. 60 min. Language: English, Finnish. Age: 12+.
