Robin Wall Kimmerer is a mother, scientist, decorated professor, and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Author of Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants, which earned wide acclaim, Gathering Moss: A Natural and Cultural History of Mosses (John Burroughs Medal winner), and others. Featured on NPR’s On Being, addressed UN on healing relationship with nature. SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Environmental Biology, founder and director of the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment, focusing on indigenous and scientific knowledge for sustainability. 2022 MacArthur Fellow. Interests include restoration of ecological communities and relationships to land. Holds BS, MS, PhD in Botany.
