Description
The American artist with South Asian roots, Sheherazaad, brings a blend of Western folk-pop and South Asian traditional music. Her new EP Qasr, produced by star musician and Grammy winner Arooj Aftab, was created during a time of estrangement from family, grief over the loss of a parent, and the racial polarization of her country. Qasr means castle or fort in Urdu and explores the tensions of displacement, the push and pull of diaspora, and forgotten roots. The album reveals an artist building her own fortress, guiding us into musical kingdoms and impossible dreamscapes. Let yourself be carried away by Sheherazaad’s enchanting sounds and discover a world where boundaries fade.
