Upchuck is a band assembled by lead guitarist Michael Durham after nearly a year of composing songs and recruiting members: rhythm guitarist Alex “Hoff” Hoffman, bassist Armando Arrietta, drummer Chris Salado, and vocalist Kaila “KT” Thompson. Their inventively raucous and revolutionary sound features the Black vocalist addressing past, present, and future traumas experienced by Black women and many Black and Brown people. Upchuck shakes minds and bodies, delivering lyrics on discrimination, ignorance, and life in a doomed generation.
