Paul Sanchez is a New Orleans–based singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer whose career spans more than four decades in the city’s vibrant music scene. He gained national attention as a founding member of the folk-rock band Cowboy Mouth, helping define their energetic sound before launching a prolific solo career rooted in sharp storytelling and deeply personal songwriting. Blending rock, folk, and Crescent City soul, Sanchez has become known for his heartfelt lyrics and commanding stage presence.
Beyond performing, Sanchez is an accomplished composer and collaborator, creating acclaimed musical works including Nine Lives: The Musical of Cat Stevens and The True Story of the Neville Brothers. A dedicated advocate for New Orleans culture, he has used his music to chronicle the city’s resilience, particularly in the years following Hurricane Katrina, solidifying his role as one of the city’s resonant musical voices.
