Sheherazaad is the latest protégée of Arooj Aftab, the wonderful singer with Pakistani roots who blew us away completely with her two albums. Her name is a nod to the Persian narrator of the tales from One Thousand and One Nights. US-born Sheherazaad has Indian roots and recently impressed with her EP Qasr on the reputable label Erased Tapes (see also Hatis Noit and Ólafur Arnalds). The five songs were produced by Aftab, who does not hide her praise for her kindred spirit.
