As part of our Resonance series, we're delighted to invite Mary Lattimore back to Todmorden after her sell-out performance at the Golden Lion two years ago, this time with Walt McClements after the release of their new album Rain on the Road for an evening of music and illuminations in the stunning setting of the Unitarian Church.
Mary Lattimore and Walt McClements are two of contemporary music's most renowned innovators. Each has managed to expand the perception of their instrument’s capabilities. Mary's inventive harp processing and looping have brought the instrument to a new audience. Her prolific run of celestial solo albums and evocative film scores have redefined harp playing in the modern consciousness.
McClements, who tours as a member of Weyes Blood, is an acclaimed composer in his own right, sculpting glacial atmospherics from the accordion. The Los Angeles based duo became quick friends on overlapping tours, sharing both a drive to push the sonic possibilities of their instruments.
Their debut collaboration album Rain on the Road is available from May 10th 2024. Recorded in the cozy setting of McClements’ apartment during a rainy December in LA, Rain on the Road unfurls as a series of sonic vignettes, rolling landscapes hewn from longform improvisations for harp and accordion.
Resonance continues its series of unique multisensory events throughout the Calder Valley which fuse together live music and ambient sound, crystal light projections, performance cymatics, and a sense of place and history into a living vibration in some of the areas most remarkable buildings.
Food and drink will be available.
