Swedish progressive metal rock attraction returns to Novi Sad

After their sold-out performance last year, which was also their premiere for the local audience, Soen has decided to treat us again with an exclusive concert. As part of their summer tour, which will mainly feature festival appearances, the band is returning to the Novi Sad Cultural Center where they will once again meet their numerous fans.

About Soen

Soen is a Swedish progressive metal/rock attraction that started as an idea in 2004, but the official lineup as a supergroup formed in 2010.

Original lineup

  • Martin López (founder and drummer)
    • Played with Opeth: 1997 - 2006
    • Recorded albums: 'Still Life,' 'Blackwater Park,' 'Damnation'
    • With Amon Amarth: Iconic debut 'Once Sent from the Golden Hall'
  • Steve Di Giorgio (bassist)
    • Ex-Death, Testament, Sadus
  • Joel Ekelöf (vocalist)
    • Willowtree
  • Joakim Platbarzdis (guitarist)

The debut album 'Cognitive' (2012) was released in that lineup for Spinefarm, receiving good reviews but also criticism for sounding too much like Tool.

Recent work

After that, from 2014 to 2023, the band released five more studio albums where they solidified their style (especially from the highly praised 'Lotus') and gained many fans worldwide, especially in our region. Their latest album 'Memorial' was released by Nuclear Blast.

Martin López describes Soen's music as melodic, heavy, intricate, and very different from anything you've heard.

Current lineup

  • Martin López (drummer)
  • Joel Ekelöf (vocalist)
  • Lars Enok Åhlund (guitarist/keyboardist)
  • Cody Lee Ford (guitarist)
  • Oleksii “Zlatoyar” Kobel (bassist)
