The Waco Brothers formed in Chicago in the mid-90s by battle-weary punk musicians seeking to play classic country covers for free beer. Their bar residencies became legendary for sheer volume, speed, and energy. After a deranged SXSW appearance, Rolling Stone called them “Clash meets Cash.” They released ferocious albums and delivered entertaining live gigs that defined the Insurgent Country movement.
