Pushkin. Incidents is a performance in Serbian with Russian subtitles, based on Pushkin's short stories "The Snowstorm," "The Shot," "The Stationmaster," and "The Peasant Girl." It explores the role of chance in history, Pushkin's works, and everyday lives through interconnected narratives depicting unplanned events, duels, and provincial struggles. Directed by Philip Vinogradov with dramaturgy by Vinogradov and Daniil Kovachevich, the production employs a Brechtian style on a minimalist stage, destroying illusion via repetition, direct audience address, reading texts aloud, and onstage involvement. Actors portray multiple roles with theatrical flair, including cross-gender casting for comic effect. Themes include identity, life's meaning, artistic creation, freedom, repression, imposed lives, and elusive truth, problematizing directing as a form of constraint.
