Description

In 1966, at the peak of the British Invasion, John McEuen put together a band in California called the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Three years later, John and the band landed a role in the movie “Paint Your Wagon”, singing their tune “Buy For Me The Rain”. The following year, they blew up the charts (and bested several bands from England) with a chart-topping song called “Mr. Bojangles”. Fortunately for countless Dirt Band fans around the world, they were just getting started. Along the way, John put together a 3-disc project in 1971 called “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” that garnered a spot in the Grammy Hall of Fame and ended up in the Library of Congress designated as an “essential recording”. Oh, and he taught high school friend Steve Martin how to play the banjo. Now, nearly 60 years later, McEuen has cemented his legacy in the world of pop, country and Americana music with his seemingly limitless talent on a variety of instruments, earning him the well-deserved title “String Wizard”. He’s also working on a project of spoken word recordings, with a vibe that could be described and a cross between Orson Wells and Baxter Black. John played the Farm Concert 10 years ago, leaving a spellbound crowd begging for more. Well, this year, it’s time for more. Welcome back, friend. www.johnmceuen.net
