Boško Buha Theater - Vuk Theater

The thirties of the last century. The elegant train, Orient Express, is forced to unexpectedly stop due to heavy snow. A murder occurs, and Poirot's journey home, which was supposed to be completely peaceful, becomes the scene of another case to be solved. The train is full of suspects, each of whom seemingly has an unbreakable alibi. Poirot's journey begins in Istanbul, and the rest of the story takes place nowhere else but in Yugoslavia, between Vinkovci and Brod.

Of the 60 crime novels written by Agatha Christie, in as many as 33, the mystery was solved by the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, and many consider 'Murder on the Orient Express' to be her best work. This theatrical adaptation was written by Ken Ludwig, a famous contemporary playwright, known to our audience for very successful performances like 'Lend Me a Tenor' at the National Theatre in Sombor (directed by Olja Đorđević) and 'Moon Over Buffalo' at the National Theatre in Subotica (directed by Darijan Mihajlović).

As a brilliant playwright, Ken Ludwig has brought out comedy from Agatha Christie's mystery. Even Northrop Frye compared mystery and comedy, finding great similarities between these two genres: they both start from a normal social situation, which is disturbed for some reason, and then characters strive to restore balance. The comedic and extravagant characters created by Agatha Christie are tackled by our ensemble with great skill.
