Description
The exhibition 'Where Ink Becomes Light' marks 150 years since the birth of Ernest Bošnjak, a pioneer of Yugoslav cinematography. Born in Sombor on January 1, 1876, he was the first Yugoslav cinematographer, director, and producer. He learned printing in Sombor and worked in Buda, Pest, Szeged, and Šomotahan. Returning to Sombor in 1906, he founded a printing house and engraving workshop. That year, he brought a movie projector and opened a cinema. In 1909, he shot the first feature film, depicting girls playing in a park near the County in Sombor. For his contributions to Yugoslav film, he received a state pension. He passed away in Sombor in 1963.
