The Gilad Hekselman Trio represents the contemporary New York jazz scene in its most concentrated form. New York-based guitarist Gilad Hekselman is one of the leading jazz musicians of his generation, whose activities include both concert performances as a band leader and collaborations with the most significant contemporary jazz artists. Hekselman has collaborated with Chris Potter, Eric Harland, Fred Hersch, Mark Turner, Anat Cohen, Esperanza Spalding, Avishai Cohen, Tigran Hamasyan, Aaron Parks and many others. His discography includes 11 critically acclaimed albums, in which he consistently develops a contemporary jazz language with a strong rhythmic foundation and clear form. His latest album, Trio Grande: Urban Myth (2023), recorded with Will Vinson and Nate Wood, marks a current phase in Hekselman's creative work, while the upcoming Life, at the Village Vanguard (2024) reflects his longstanding connection to the New York jazz scene. Hekselman performs regularly at venues such as the Village Vanguard, Blue Note, and Smalls, as well as at festivals such as Montreux, North Sea Jazz, Montreal Jazz Festival, and SFJAZZ. He is a DownBeat Magazine Rising Star winner (2017, 2022) and a Gibson Montreux International Guitar Competition laureate.
