i will be dead this is the title of the second album of sura. after roar, their first solo musical baby, and the EP breaking the silence, sura is about to release an album that tickles, caresses, shakes and pierces us open. i will be dead seriously questions the current status quo that normalizes fear, productivism and competition as bases of our connection to the world. inspired by texts such as audre lorde’s: use of the erotic, books like: pleasure activism, and spritualités radicales (radical spiritualities), and the precious work of alok v. menon, sura brings us back to the essentials, to the little details, to the gestures that create connections, beyond walls, borders, and seas. sura, as usual, proposes playfulness as ritual, and pleasure as revolutionary. they take us where laughters and tears meet, where our voices together merge, where forgiveness exists, where our human condition, ever changing, multiple and unique, can only face its inevitable destiny: death. “au trône le plus élevé du monde, nous ne sommes jamais assis que sur notre cul” (tr. on the highest throne of the world, we are still merely seated on our ass), quoting montaigne in one of their songs, sura brings forth humility, humour and love as ultimate weapons against the fascist flavour of our times. they remind us to cherish life while it is still ours, with its joys and pains, its honey and its mud. i will be dead celebrates with courage and determination, our weirdness and our unique magical powers. the analog release will be celebrated on the 28th of january at botanique in brussels.
