Description
The exhibition commemorates 150 years since the birth of Ernest Bošnjak, a pioneer of Yugoslav cinematography. Born in Sombor on January 1, 1876, he was the first Yugoslav cinematographer, director, and producer. He trained as a printer in Sombor and worked in Buda, Pest, Szeged, and Szabadka. Returning to Sombor in 1906, he established a printing house and engraving workshop, brought a cinema projector, and opened a cinema. In 1909, he filmed the first feature film featuring girls playing near the County Building. Recognized for his contributions to Yugoslav cinema, he received a state pension and died in Sombor in 1963.
