The film is set during World War II in a small, remote village on the tri-border of Serbia, Montenegro, and Albania. For 36 hours, a persecuted Orthodox child, who lost his parents in an attack by a fascist military formation, finds refuge in the home of a completely unfamiliar person, with whom he is not connected by language, religion, or blood relation — the Albanian Nura Doka.
