Anouar Brahem, celebrated Tunisian oud master, blends jazz improvisation with Western compositions and Eastern forms. Known for ECM recordings and collaborations with Dave Holland and John Surman. His album 'The Astounding Eyes of Rita' features this quartet: Bjørn Meyer on bass, Klaus Gesing on bass clarinet and saxophone, Khaled Yassine on darbouka and bendir. The same lineup performed to acclaim in 2023.
