Made up of drummer Ali Jackson, from a line of African-American jazzmen from Detroit, spotted by Wynton Marsalis; pianist Aaron Goldberg, a Harvard graduate and student of Jerry Bergonzi; and double bassist Omer Avital, an Israeli musician with Yemeni and Moroccan roots, Yes! Trio brings together three musicians who were never meant to meet! United by thirty years of friendship and love of swing, rich in their differences and experiences, these three contemporary masters are driven by a true group spirit, which is reflected in the subtlety of their music. With this new program, Yes! Trio continues to embrace jazz with the same joy, faithful to what makes its essence, between Motown and Yemen blues. Their liveliness, their naturalness, their freedom of play illustrate how much these artists have become references of the genre, of which they do not forget to integrate any of the fundamentals, but which they open to so many other spaces. Romantic melodies, batucada rhythms, a church tambourine or accents of urban rhythms thus dot their repertoire. Mixing brilliantly revisited standards with a series of sublime original compositions, the music of Yes! Trio is a pure marvel that confirms their unique character on the jazz planet.
