This Spring Charlie Dore returns to share ‘Songs For The Curious,’ her latest mix of music that defies categorisation. As an artist whose music tends to invite several hyphens when reviewers seek to describe it, Charlie loves nothing more than to mix genres, often finding in the process that songs can be re-invented in unexpected and interesting ways. A multi award-winning songwriter for dozens of different artists from Tina Turner, George Harrison and Celine Dion to Martha Wainwright, Ricky Ross and Paul Carrack, she loves writing but says “I still have the touring bug - in spades”. Alongside Julian Littman, her multi-instrumental, actor-musician friend since drama school, the two create a unique atmosphere, instrument-swapping, story telling, fast-moving yet relaxed and full of edgy humour.
Charlie’s recent awards include Female Vocalist Of The Year (FATEA, 2020) and Best Lyrics (US Indie Acoustic, 2021) whilst her tours continue to reach new and enthusiastic audiences.

While her own albums favour her more eclectic/roots leanings, she is one of a handful of UK writers to achieve success across many genres, defined by the range of artists to have covered her songs including Tina Turner, George Harrison, Celine Dion, Martha Wainright, Paul Carrack, Ricky Ross and Jimmy Nail, notching up along the way a UK No 1, a US No 4 and Top 10 hits in Italy, Germany and France. She has also composed for three BBC drama series and two films. Her own hit, Pilot of the Airwaves is still featured on Radio 2’s core playlist and is still a worldwide radio favourite. She has also worked as an actress in theatre, film, (the award-winning Ploughman’s Lunch, playing opposite Jonathan Pryce) TV drama, Radio with Eric Idle and co-founded London Comedy Impro venue, The Hurricane Club, performing alongside many comedy icons including Bill Bailey, Stuart Lee and Robin Williams. Charlie continues writing for and with other artists and also enjoys mentoring emerging songwriters when she’s not recording or touring with her own band. She is currently writing ‘Background Noise’, a series of essays about her life both on and off stage. Rosslyn Court Expect a small, seated, friendly, quirky, listening venue with a heart – we have a tiny bar selling beer, wine, cider and hot and cold drinks -nibbly stuff and always a cake. The venue is accessible, on one level. You will be seated at tables or in rows, according to numbers in the audience. If you need to use your phone for texting or lyrics, please turn the brightness of your phone down and consider sitting near the back to minimise the impact. The first hour of concerts is livestreamed on YouTube. You can watch it any time after 7.30 on the night of the concert via the Rosslyn Court Website. There is an exclusive second set for the audience in the room, including a Q&A with the performers. We ask you to make a donation, please, when you watch the livestream to help us to continue this service. In buying a ticket you are entered for the Rosslyn Court raffle. There is usually a floor singer and often a 2-minute community slot informing us of what happens locally. The second half starts with a Q&A and is not livestreamed. If you think of something you want to know more about in the first half, just ask! Sometimes there is another floor song. The concerts usually finish well before 10. Except for Tim Edey because he is unstoppable.
