Kris Drever is a songwriter, guitarist and singer from the Orkney Islands. He is known for his award-winning solo career and as a member of the trio Lau.

In addition to creating award-winning original songs and instrumental pieces with the trio Lau, he has had a fruitful solo career exploring the cracks between classic and modern songwriting and the traditional music that he comes from.

Drever’s sound is rooted in the earthy and hypnotic rhythms of much older music, but the sophistication of both the lyricism and the instrumentalism places him skillfully in the present.

He has won multiple BBCR2 Folk awards and Scottish NaTrads awards and has collaborated with artists such as Jack Bruce, Mark Knopfler, and Roddy Woomble. Hs is also a part of the Spell Songs: The Lost Words project.
