Ansett’s strength as a writer lies in his ability to cut to the heart of emotion through simple, effective metaphor. His method, he explains, is to “write lyrics that are super accessible but carry a lot of depth at the same time… For the listener, my goal is just to try and lighten whatever burdens they may be carrying. To help the listener grieve and heal.” It’s an approach that has earned him a wide range of accolades. His debut LP reached #9 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart, while HuffPost noted that his music “speaks for itself,” and American Songwriter heralded “his ability to blend folk and R&B together with gentle aplomb.” His work has led to placements on Netflix’s Love Is Blind and Marvel’s The Punisher, and his songwriting earned him a first-place finish in the 2024 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Most of all, though, his music has earned Ansett a steady foundation of fans. While his catalog has nearly 30M plays across platforms, with top track “This Could Be” tabbing 5M streams on Spotify alone, Ansett notes that the most meaningful aspect of his artistry is the one-to-one, personal connection it enables.
