15th century city wall tower built as part of medieval New-Pärnu fortifications and long-time city prison. The only surviving defense tower of Hansa town New-Pärnu and the oldest surviving building in Pärnu. Since late 2020, it houses a branch of Pärnu Museum with permanent exhibition supplementing the main one, introducing the story of the former prison tower and medieval Pärnu. On the top floor, a new circular panorama cinema shows a 10-minute animated film 'Merciless and Merciful History. In the Red Tower Through 15,000 Years'. The film centers on the view from the viewer's location from the Ice Age to today, showing geographical changes, city development, and historical events. Ticket includes panorama cinema session and optional short introduction to the tower's history by museum staff. Entry through gate on Hommiku street. Limited capacity, 30 min stay.
