Konak kneginje Ljubice is one of the few preserved buildings from the time of Prince Miloš Obrenović's first rule. Built in 1830 according to plans and under the supervision of Hadži Nikola Živković, the official prince's builder. Designed as the representative court of the Serbian ruling Obrenović dynasty. However, due to proximity to Turks, Prince Miloš rarely stayed there. It fulfilled its primary purpose during Prince Mihailo's first rule (1839-1842) as his residence. After the expulsion of the Obrenovićs from Serbia (1842), the building was used and adapted by various state institutions for the next 130 years. In the 1970s, the Belgrade city administration decided that the building, in accordance with its historical, artistic, and monumental heritage, should become a museum. After restoration and reconstruction, it joined the Museum of the City of Belgrade in 1980, and in September of that year, the permanent museum exhibition 'Interiors of 19th-century Belgrade houses' opened.
