La Perla is a percussion and vocal trio from Bogotá, inspired by Colombia’s Caribbean coast traditional sounds and rhythms including Dominican merengue, champeta, punk, hip-hop, and beatboxing. Formed in 2014 by Karen Forero, Roberta Leono (Giovanna Mogollón), and Diana Sanmiguel. Debut full-length album Callejera (2022) on Mambo Negro Records blends chalupa, samba, merengue, punk, chicha, cumbia, guaguancó, and rap. Collaborated with Frente Cumbiero, Briela Ojeda, La Dame Blanche, Instituto Mexicano del Sonido, and others.
