Blackbirds and the sun of October - Federico Albanese Milanese composer and pianist Federico Albanese debuted in 2014 with The houseboat and the moon, still one of the greatest albums of the new generation of pianists. Since then, The blue hour (which he introduced at 30CC at the time), Before and now seems infinite and By the deep sea have been released.

Albanese lived and worked in Berlin for many years, but returned to Monferrato in his native region in 2022. This spring saw the release of Blackbirds and the sun of October, an album about homecoming, heritage and reconnecting. The result? Once again, thirteen addictive (post-)classical pieces by a ‘piano poet’ that reflect the natural beauty and the changing of the seasons. It’s one of the finest albums we heard in months.

YANA Instrumentalist and composer YANA creates intense soundscapes with piano, strings and electronics. Her album Daydreamer (Opia Community, Ólafur Arnalds) outlines a path from inner darkness to emotional renewal. With Blackbirds and the Sun of October, ‘piano poet’ Federico Albanese brings addictive (post-)classical gems about coming home and the beauty of the seasons. Enchanting and compelling!
