The Helsinki Baroque Orchestra is an orchestra specializing in early music performance practices and period instruments. In addition to Baroque, the orchestra has performed works from the Renaissance and Classicism periods as well as contemporary music composed for orchestra. The Helsinki Baroque Orchestra has earned a reputation both internationally and domestically; it is one of the most respected period ensembles in Europe. It is also one of the flagships of Finnish cultural exports. It has made numerous recordings for Alba Records and the AEOLUS and Naxos labels. The orchestra's artistic director has been harpsichordist Aapo Häkkinen since 2003.
