Neev (real name Bernardo Tavares Vassal de Beja Neves) is a Portuguese musician, composer, performer, and multi-instrumentalist born in Cascais, Portugal in 1995. At the age of 18, he moved to London to study, and at 21 made his musical debut in collaboration with Norwegian electronic duo SEEB (composed of Simen Eriksrud and Espen Berg) on the track "Breathe," which garnered over 115 million streams on Spotify. The song peaked at 28th on the Billboard chart, remained there for ten weeks, and received multiple gold and platinum awards throughout Europe. His musical style blends elements of pop, rock, hip-hop, soul, and country influences, showcasing his versatility as a songwriter and performer.
Following his international breakthrough, Neev pursued a solo career and released his debut solo single "Calling Out" in May 2019. After being courted by multiple major labels, he signed a worldwide record deal with Universal France and a publishing deal with BMG. His debut album Philosotry was released in 2020, produced alongside renowned American producer Larry Klein (known for his work with Joni Mitchell and Herbie Hancock), who referred to Neev as "the Portuguese Prince." The album was recorded in Los Angeles with notable session musicians including Dean Parks, Brian Macleod, and Patrick Warren. The 12-track album demonstrates Neev's compositional versatility, featuring rock influences on "Come On People," hip-hop and soul elements on "Loot," and country influences on the love letter ballad "Anne Marie." Beyond music, Neev maintains a blog called "My Corner" where he shares his writings and thoughts.
