She was born in 1983 in Kolín. After graduating from the EKO Grammar School in Poděbrady, she continued her drama studies at the Theater Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Subsequently, she became a member of the Theater in Vinohrady. As an actress, she made music videos for the songs Superstar by the group Supercrooo and Love binds you to Petr Muk; as a singer she made a clip for the song Cow. In November 2015, she released her first, eponymous, album, which released her first single Nafrněná in August with a clip recorded by Tereza Kopáčová. For this single, Bára Poláková won the Song of the Year award at the annual Anděl Awards 2015, and at the same time the Academy of Czech Popular Music awarded her the Discovery of the Year. The eponymous album also contains her first known song Cow.
